About a month ago Rebecca Parker from Simply Crochet Magazine approached me about featuring one of my patterns in their magazine.  So, I checked out their website and I was both intrigued and inspired by all of the wonderful pictures and designs.  If you have never been to Simply Crochet Magazine website , you need to visit!  They have so many amazing designs, and even have a free patterns section.  Here are just a few of my favorite free patterns: They have links to some of the cutest Halloween Pattern I have seen.  This would be a great time for me to start on some of those cute Halloween decorations.  And that Shark hat...... amazingly cute!! This is not a complete list of crochet abbreviations, but it is a good list for beginners.  These are the abbreviations that I find that I use the most in my patterns.  I will be adding to this list as I list free crochet patterns with new abbreviations in them. ch: chain st: stitch sl st: slip stitch sc: single crochet hdc: half double crochet dc: double crochet trc: triple crochet tr: treble crochet dtr: double triple crochet yo: yarn over sp: space sk: skip fpdc: front post double crochet bpdc: back post double crochet sc2tog: single crochet two together (decrease) bl: back loop blo: back loop only Crochet abbreviations are an important part of reading a crochet pattern.  You can always come back to this as much as you need to!

As you get into crochet, you may need a crochet hook conversion chart.  This is because in the US, crochet hook sizes are determined by numbers and letters.  In Europe, sizes are determined by the physical metric system.  It just depends on where you are from :)  Crochet hook conversion charts are definetly a useful tool.
