TUTORIAL: Pin Wheel Flower

I have seen these adorable pin wheel flowers around for a while now and I think they are so cute.  So, I decided to make up my own version of one.  Mine is probably a little bit different than the others, and a little bit smaller.  If you want your flower to be larger you can use a larger crochet hook, a larger weight yarn, or both!  Please be aware before you begin that this is an advanced pattern, and will be challenging if you are a beginner crocheter.  There are some advanced stitches used in this pattern.   Abbreviations: ch: chain dc: double crochet sc: single crochet hdc: half double crochet sl st: slip stitch st: stitch trc: triple crochet dtr: double triple crochet flo: front loop only   Materials Needed: Size H hook or hook of your choice. worsted weight yarn or weight of your choice   For this pattern you will not need to check a gauge.  You are not making this as an item of clo...

Today I am sharing a few really pretty stitches that I have enjoyed using in some of my patterns.  They are called the Cross Cluster Stitch, and the Beginning Cluster Stitch. These stitches will give your crochet projects a fun texture.  The Beginning Cluster stitch is used at the beginning of a row, and so I am sharing it first.  Scroll down just a bit and you will find the Cross Cluster Stitch. Beginning Cluster: Ch 3 Wrap your yarn around your hook     Insert your hook in the same st     Pull up a loop (you will now have 3 loops on your hook)     Wrap your yarn around the hook and pull through 2 loops (you should now have 2 loops left on your hook)     Wrap your yarn around your hook and insert it in the same stitch     Pull up a loop (you will now have 4 loops on your hook)     Wrap your yarn around your hook and pull thr...

Shoe Measurements

If you have ever wanted to design your own shoe/bootie pattern, or alter a pattern that you already have, you will need some measurements.  I have included two size charts, one for babies and children, and the other for women.  If you are using this chart to make my Toe Flower Sandals , be sure to subtract a little bit for the length since the sandal doesn't go clear to the top of your toe.

Sweet Pea Flower

This is a fun little flower applique  to make.  These are fun to use as embellishments with your various projects.  I have used them for a lot of different projects, most recently my monkey hat pattern .  There are a lot of different fun color variations that you could use to make these.  I like to use the color scheme designer to choose my colors.  I have included instructions to make a single or a double layered flower.  Did you know there really is a flower called the Sweet Pea Flower ?  I didn't until after I wrote my pattern and looked it up.  My flower doesn't look at all like a Sweet Pea Flower, but it is still a sweet little flower!
